MHS 1988 Batch held their reunion at Seafarer restaurant at Tanjung Kling recently.
MELAKA: Former pupils of Infant Jesus Convent Melaka (CHIJ) will mark their school’s 160th anniversary by holding a reunion for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic struck three years ago.
Past Pupils Association of CHIJ president Kemmy Chua Seoh Eng said the school is the second oldest convent in the country after Penang’s Light Street Convent.
She said the school was supposed to celebrate the momentous occasion in 2020 but it was postponed due to the pandemic and series of movement control orders.
“After three years, we will all converge for this historic moment at the DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton on Aug 19.
“I have to thank my dedicated and hard working committee members for jointly organising this memorable event,” she said on Tuesday (Aug 1).
Chua said the occasion will be graced by Mother Provincial Theresa Chua, Deputy Education Minister Lim Hui Ying, who is also a former student of the school, and other VIPs as well the attendance of ex-teachers and convent nuns.
“A live band will perform during the dinner, while there will be lucky draws, line dancing and exciting games to test the wits and the energy of those attending the event.
